So, I told my son today not to do something, to which he promptly did and was surprised when the outcome was less than favorable. My reaction: Sigh, pick him up, hug him, and tell him that he shouldn’t have done that. I knew he was going to do it, expected it even. Some things I guess you just have to learn the hard way, but sometimes, I wish he would listen to reason, it would save a lot of tears on his part. I figure he will learn this when he has kids of his own, so until then, I’ll continue to tell him not to do stuff, continue to be unsurprised when he immediately goes out and does them, kiss his boo boos, and tell him he shouldn’t have done that. I’ll do that and hope against all hopes that he either learns to listen or at least only makes his mistakes minor.
